Literacy through Phonics is the correspondence component of all the courses offered at About Words. It is available as a stand alone option for those interested in learning about phonics as a teaching method.

Practical Phonics for Tutors is a complete training package - trainees are provided with a solid grounding in modern phonics via a correspondence course, while concurrently receiving workshop instruction and ongoing support as they teach their first student. All supporting texts and resources, to get the trainee started, are provide as part of the course.

Completion of this course offers exciting opportunities. Set up your own independent, home based business providing reading and spelling tuition for school students, adults and those for whom English is a second language. You set your own hours and your own fees and buy resources from About Words at wholesale rates . The effectiveness of the programme is seeing current tutors attracting as many students as they want, and earning up to $40.00 per half hour session.

There are no prerequisites required to undertake the above courses.

Practical Phonics for Teachers is a course tailored for teachers currently teaching literacy in remedial situations.
