Practical Phonics for Teachers

This course is for teachers who are working with students in remedial situations. The course includes the correspondence course (Literacy through Phonics) and five practical workshops.

The workshops include:

• Assessing a student using the About Words Literacy Assessment
• teaching spelling and reading by explicit instruction
• teaching comprehension and vocabulary extension
• setting the spelling and reading scene
• the use of teaching aids
• explanation and demonstration of resources
• Teaching phonograms using the see-say-hear-write method
• spending less time preparing and more time teaching literacy

• New Zealand Fern Readers (50 readers)
• Practical Phonics Workbooks (Levels 1-5) 
• 1x Phonogram Dictionary
• 1x Homework 1 and 2
• 1x Phonogram Alphabet
